Our names are Steve and Melissa Niedzwiecki. In 2009, we bought Chaudière Lodge on the Upper French River. For the next decade, Melissa worked a full-time job and looked after our four kids from home, while I lived at and operated Chaudière Lodge from May until October. Together, we built one of the most successful resorts of its kind.
The Chaudière experience for my family was outstanding — one of the greatest times of my life. The best part of it all was the amazing people and families we met and sharing the Upper French River experience with them. It is truly an extraordinary place, one we fell in love with and felt compelled to share with others.
So much so that we bought an 18-acre island with a quaint, clean cottage and a couple of bunkie's, which through Chaudiere we rented, giving our guests a very different and wonderful French River experience. But in the spring of 2018, we realized how quickly our family was growing and how much I was missing. So we made the very difficult decision to sell the Chaudière Lodge, but kept the island and cottage. This move allowed us to spend more time with our family and still be on the French.
Now Melissa and I have decided to once again share the Upper French River experience with you — but this time from our personal, private island. It is a truly unique experience: your own private island retreat, offering the best of both worlds, immersed in nature with the creature comforts of home.
